And a few more

Since Charlie bought me my KitchenAid I have been trying to bake all our bread - which has its ups and downs.  Mostly been making the Artisan bread in 5 minutes sourdough-y type stuff but these dinner rolls were AMAZING!  I skipped the step where she spreads a pound of butter on the dough and they were still great - huge and fluffy.  Recipe - here.
Most successful yeast bread yet - seriously bad for the waistline but delicious!

Nice to come home to afer a long day in the office, even if I was so tired I did not notice it til the next day.

No resolutions

I read somewhere that new year resolutions are destined to be broken, so this year we are setting intentions for 2012 instead.  One of my interntions is to update this blog more, I have been rubbish at it but it turns out working full time takes up a LOT of time.

This is my first post - and there will be more.  With pictures.  And videos.  And fun stuff. I promise!

Almost a month

The time passes too quickly, I cannot believe it has been almost a month since my last post.  Grandma very kindly took the whole family on a great trip.  We went to Florida, where we stayed in a great house and visited Disney World.  The we went on a cruise on the Disney Dream Ship stopping in  Nassau and on Castaway Cay, Disney's own island.

We had an amazing time, the kids LOVED it, we loved it - I am a Disney convert.

A few things

Only a couple of weeks since I posted and it feels like so much has happened - time for some bullet points:

- I got a job, I start on Monday for a helicopter company.  Full time (gulp) after two years off is a bit daunting but I am sure working is like riding a bike - right?

- Charlie will be the stay-at-home Dad for now, which he is a little bit nervous about.  Daycare is hard to come by in Vancouver so we were prepared for Isla to be on a waiting list for 6 months.  I went to drop off the cheque on Friday and they found a place for her starting Monday.  It is two days a week and means when Charlie gets a job we should not have a problem upping it to full time if we need to.  It is the one place I loved - the room is light and bright and airy, loads of activities and I could hardly get Isla out of there when we visited.  Plus they have a webcam so we can watch her all day if we want - hurray!

- My Mum and Dad came to visit for their half term, today was a sad day as they left this afternoon, but we crammed so much into this week.  We visited the Sunshine Coast and did a couple of great walks up Pender Hill and in Francis Point Marine Park.  We walked around Stanley Park, introduced them to great wings, visited Granville Island and they spent a lot of time playing with Isla.  Goodbyes are so hard, but it is so nice to spend quality time with them.  In England too often it was a few snatched hours on a weekend, while trying to visit so many other friends.
